It's been raining constantly -- incredible amounts of rain. I'll absolutely lose my mind soon too. One day I opened the back door. I told Danijela to run & get wet. She did. She also tried to catch raindrops in her mouth. I plan to sit in the rain & make mud pies next week. Life is short. I want to make it sweet for us. I want to be less self-centered. God, help me.
My hands are wrinkled. That is a fact. I'm 40. Oh, that is so incredibly unbelievable. When you get here you'll think the same. Remember me. I haven't decided if we are wise or incredibly foolish for the whole "late in life" approach to having children.
They say the camera adds 10lbs. I didn't know it could actually remove a neck. Gosh, he is a hunk. Love that boy. I believe in a previous life he was a BBC correspondent & indulged in a few too many crumpets. Where did his carrot top come from?
My camera is large. Since having Luka it feels like a third child that I'm lugging around. So I don't. That's why there are few images of the kids together. Virtually the only time I can take pictures is when I'm alone with either child AND they are calm (seldom). I miss my camera. Sounds strange but it literally helps me breath. It's like a tiny sanctuary in my life that is only mine.
My wedding ring is back & clearly needs to be polished. Anyway, early in this pregnancy the skin under the ring started itching -- crazy itching. I took the ring off & noticed small blisters. The skin eventually dried & peeled. Once or twice I tried to wear it again & the same thing happened. Well, I'm no longer preggers & put it on this weekend. All is good.
... a little melodrama. I wasn't fired. I resigned this week. I'd gone back to work part-time when Danijela was 16 months old. Texas Instruments has been good to us. I was paid well to work from home. Enormous blessing & I'm incredibly grateful. Really. And, yet, it's time to say goodbye after a decade together. These babies come first. 
Okay. So we make the trek to the Arboretum. Naturally we assume the girls will play with abandon in the water. Yeah. No. The highlight was running back & forth to put trash in the trash can. I give up. Whatever makes you happy, girls! Oh, also noticed something funny. Danijela apparently sticks her tongue under her top lip when she runs.
I love the water (minus the bathing suit part) & shade on hot summer days. Mel & I strolled the kids to the Arboretum on Monday morning. Headed straight to Toad Fountain to get wet. I had a cheesy umbrella from our family bingo game that we finally put to use.
It's not easy traveling with a toddler & infant. I've been trying to carry Luka in a front carrier in hopes he would sleep & I could play with Danijela. Like life ... things often don't turn out the way you plan. If it wasn't for my friends (& husband) I honestly don't know what I would do.
I do realize his hands will only be this small today. Time is precious. God, help me to not take a moment for granted. Help me to love my husband & children well.
The first image is a wee bit creepy looking, but I thought it was cool with her floating hair. In Austin she decided to lay down in the bathtub like she had on the pool steps earlier in the day. She started singing and giggling with her ears under water. She thought that was cool.
On an unselfish note I'm so glad she's having fun. Things have also gotten better in the last day because I've been spending time alone with her. It's something I don't get much chance to do with a new baby.
Grammy got Luka to smile at her for quite some time. I finally grabbed my camera & this was what I got. No smile but cute as a button.
