Studio Time

Tracy & I started a photography business called Moon Cookie Photography. After her encouragement, I decided I needed to take the leap. Our website is not yet complete, but you can view it at mooncookie.com. Tracy has a great business plan for the near-term. Basically we setup a studio in my home for Saturday-only appointments so our husbands are available to watch the kiddos. The hard part is learning the studio aspect & equipment placing. I am so used to documentary-type photography that this is a whole new deal. Thank you to Nick & Trisha for letting Sophie be our little model while we work out all the details.

As a gift my Aunt Anne gave me one of her journal of poems while I was in Denver this past week. I found no name on this piece of paper tucked alone inside. I now know it is the last four lines of a poem written by Mary Oliver (The Summer Day). I assume these were the most important to Anne. Anne is under Denver Hospice care for terminal lung cancer. Elby only recently took a turn & now lives in a 24 hour care facility. They miss one another deeply. This is an image I took of them in the quiet of the day. What a precious moment.

Foster, you are not allowed to grow more teeth. You are cute as a button. Spending extra time with you and your mama was a blesssing on Monday. She is an amazing person. She loves you & Grayson so much. You will never be able to fathom how deep love dwells in her heart. We started our first earth garden on this day. Yet, truly, the garden that matters are our amazing children like you. We work so hard to love and teach you all well. Thank you for the smile. Man, you are too cute. And it is not a surprise knowing your mama as I do.

I just want you to know that I have been praying for your family! Anne, Elby, your mom and dad, and all your family -- I know Anne and Elby have been a big part of your life. Sometimes life deals us a hand that we do not like, but I keep remembering these words that I read in an Emmaus newsletter not long again:

When God takes you to the edge, He is there to catch you or teach you how to fly.

I have tried to lean on these words through all that is going on with my own family right now. You are such a beautiful, smart, God-loving person that has so much to share with others. You are a wonderful mom, wife, and niece. Others see the Lord through your sweet spirit. I am praying for strength for you to endure all that is happening in your life right now. On the other side of the tunnel you will have a peace that passes all understanding and even be stronger. You know I am always here for you even though we are miles apart
